Green Globe announced certification of Hotel de Crillon in the heart of Paris, France. Overlooking the world-famous Place de la Concorde, the Hotel de Crillon adopted a proactive, vigorous policy of Corporate Social Responsibility in June, 2010, thereby demonstrating its green mindset, and continuously improving its performance. “Our number one objective is to offer our guests a very high level of service that is worthy of a five-star hotel,” said Laetitia Demante. As Director of Quality and Sustainability for Hotel de Crillon, Ms. Demante is responsible for implementing an internal policy of excellence and meeting the needs of the hotel guests as effectively as possible. “The Green Globe Certification gives us a framework for standardizing our procedures in every area, as well as an opportunity to motivate our staff and still promote their career development,” she said. Green Globe Certification’s CEO, Mr. Guido Bauer, said: “The commitment of the Hotel de Crillon to sustainability management is impressive. It extends to their restaurants, with all menus based on local, seasonal dishes.” “In addition to its daily donations – including bread and pastries – to the Foyer de la Madeleine charitable restaurant, the hotel maintains an active commitment to the local community,” added Ms. Demante. Hotel guests are now presented with a booklet that suggests eco-friendly excursions in and around Paris, along with a list of the region’s organic restaurants. Moreover, Hotel de Crillon has made a commitment to use recycled paper exclusively, gives preference to local products, and sells only handcrafted products designed in France in its hotel shop. Hotel de Crillon belongs to the Concorde hotel group and is a masterpiece of French architecture from the 18th century. To protect this internationally-acclaimed gem of French architecture for future generations, the Hotel de Crillon recently completed a one-year restoration during which a specialist team of experts meticulously restored the hotel façade. In addition the hotel’s sculptures, woodwork, and tapestries exemplify the finest in traditional French craftsmanship and are beautifully preserved as part of France’s cultural heritage.
