Dubai’s Emaar Properties is planning to expand its The Address Hotels + Resorts hospitality brand across Africa, India, the US and Asia this year, starting with the signing of a new project in Egypt, it was announced on Monday. The latest signing, The Address Marassi Golf Resort & Spa, is part of a master-planned community development along Egypt’s Mediterranean coast and is being developed by Emaar Misr, the Dubai developer’s Egyptian subsidiary. Emmar, developer of Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, is planning to expand the brand out globally, with aims to sign projects in India, London, Paris, New York, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bali, Marrakesh, Kenya and Istanbul, with further details due to be announced throughout the year. “This year, The Address Hotels + Resorts is underlining its further global expansion with the management contract to operate The Address Marassi Golf Resort & Spa, a premium luxury retreat that will set new benchmarks in the hospitality sector of Egypt,” said Mohamed Alabbar, chairman of Emaar Properties. “We will continue to build on this development momentum through potential expansion to other key markets across the Middle East & North Africa, South Asia, China, Europe and the US,” he added. The Address Hotels + Resorts currently owns and operates five properties in Dubai - The Address Downtown Dubai, The Address Dubai Mall, The Address Dubai Marina, The Address Montgomerie Dubai and The Palace - The Old Town. In April 2011, Indian media reported that Emaar was in discussion to expand into the Indian market and the first The Address Hotels + Resorts property was likely to be in Delhi. “India’s hospitality sector is growing rapidly and the country is also one of the key markets for Emaar,” a spokesperson from The Address Hotels + Resorts told Arabian Business at the time. Emaar is already active in India via Emaar MGF, a joint venture run in conjunction with local firm MGF Development.
