Jill Marie Jones is to play the lead role of Amanda Fisher in the 10-episode series Ash vs Evil Dead, Starz announced.
The half-hour program is a followup to the classic Evil Dead horror film franchise. Starring Bruce Campbell, Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo, the show is to film on location in New Zealand this spring and is scheduled to premiere on the cable network in late 2015.
Original filmmakers Campbell, Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are serving as executive producers on the series.
"Following the grisly murder of her partner, disgraced Michigan State Trooper Amanda Fisher sets out to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility for the crime. But as she soon learns, Ash and his cohorts may be mankind's only hope against the plague of Evil Dead," said press notes released Thursday.
Jones' small-screen credits include Sleepy Hollow, Girlfriends and American Horror Story. She also appeared in the feature films 35 and Ticking, The Perfect Holiday, Major Movie Star and Meeting Spencer.
Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the "stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead," the synopsis said.
