The current version of British television drama, Doctor Who is set to return for an eighteen season, the shows producer, Steven Moffat has confirmed. For fans of the actor who plays the title character, Matt Smith, good news. Smith has also been scheduled to return as the Doctor, a role he has played since 2010. Moffat, the show's lead writer and executive producer, told the BBC he has begun planning the season's plot. Brian Minchin will join Moffat as a producer for the eighth season, The Hollywood Reporter said. The current season recently wrapped up, ahead of the show's 50th anniversary celebration special, which will air November 23, UPI reports. The 3D special starts Smith, Jenna Coleman, former Doctor Who - David Tennant and John Hurt.
