WAHO Assembly praises Bahrain, accepts China's membership
Manama - ArabToday

The General Assembly meetings of the World Arabian Horse Organisation (WAHO) Conference, being held in Bahrain, continued, where the participants discussed many important items on the agenda, while other delegations presented their official reports and special achievements in the field of purebred Arabian horses in the years 2015-2016.
Being organised under the patronage of HM the King, and the personal follow-up of HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, son of HRH the Crown Prince and Chairman of the High Organising Committee, the meeting reviewed the major obstacles encountering the efforts of preserving purity and safety of purebred Arabian horses’ strains and protecting them from genetic manipulation.
For her part, HRH Princess Alia Bint Al Hussein, President of Royal Jordanian Equestrian Federation and member of the executive committee of WAHO, hailed Bahrain’s organisation of the WAHO Conference, praising the Royal patronage of the event by HM the King and the follow-up of HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa to the event. She stressed the importance of hosting WAHO's periodic meetings towards the efforts of maintaining the purity of purebred Arabian horses, valuing the Organisation members' roles in strengthening the bonds tying WAHO as one united family. C
ommenting on the Jordanian role within the Organisation, HRH said: "Jordan was among the first members to join WAHO. We have many official registration offices widespread within Jordan. Purebred Arabian horses are of great interest in Jordanian society." She also expressed her hopes of preserving purebred Arabian horses. "I am confident of seeing the members avoiding the new production trends and in strains," HRH the Princess said.
It's worth noting that the General Assembly approved yesterday the financial report for the financial year ending in 2015, where Mr David Angold, a member of the executive committee, highlighted the main items of the report.
He stated that all the financial practices were conducted in line with the WAHO's constitution and supervised by official accounting companies located in the UK.
He also noted the major challenges facing the Organisation, including the drop in the registration of purebred Arabian horses in WAHO offices. "This has contributed to the decrease of financial revenues, but we are confident to see an upturn in this, in the coming years," he said.
However, he reiterated the fact that WAHO is a charity organisation and not a profitable one. "This is why the Organisation has managed to have a widespread presence across the world," he explained, thanking the Kingdom of Bahrain for the extraordinary organisation to the event,"
HE Mr Hisham bin Mohammed Al Jodar, Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, praised HRH the Crown Prince's keenness to inaugurate the WAHO Conference, underscoring that HRH's interest stems from the wise leadership's keenness to maintain the strains of purebred Arabian horses and protecting them, given the fact that Bahrain has been a home for them.
He noted the efforts of the High Organising Committee under the chairmanship of HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa. "Bahrain's hosting of this event confirms the prominent efforts and the unwavering support of HM the King in this field, as purebred Arabian horses compose an integral part of Bahrain's heritage and history.
Meanwhile, General Secretary of the Bahrain Olympic Committee valued the Royal patronage of HM the King to the event, underlining the wise leadership's support to the WAHO Conference and to purebred Arabian horses. He also hailed the efforts of the High Organising Committee, and its Chairman HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
"Organising the WAHO Conference adds to the Kingdom's sports achievements which have put the Kingdom among the countries at the forefront in this field. Purebred Arabian horses have formed an important part of our history, and it's a very integral piece of our heritage," he said.
Riffa Fort Accommodates Horse Beauty Show
It's worth citing that Riffa Fort hosted the Horse Beauty Show, which was held as part of the WAHO Conference. The event featured different traditional activities to highlight the Kingdom's wealthy traditions and customs.
On his behalf, HH Shaikh Faisal bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) and Deputy Chairman of the High Organising Committee, welcomed the guests to their second home, the Kingdom of Bahrain, praising the efforts of the members of WAHO in the Conference. HH Shaikh Faisal confirmed the Kingdom's keenness and the wise leadership's keenness to make the event achieve tremendous success.
Tour to Bahrain National Charter Monument
The Organising Committee organised a tour for the participants in the Conference to the Bahrain National Charter Monument, as part of the efforts to raise awareness of the Kingdom’s attractive tourism sector among them. The visit was met with a great praise from the participants.
It's worth noting that the Bahrain National Charter Monument was ordered to be established by HM the King to store the names of the Bahraini citizens who participated in the voting on the National Action Charter of the Kingdom of Bahrain in 2001.
