Rafael Nadal became the second major drawcard to retire with illness in 24 hours at the Miami Masters with the Spaniard quitting his opening second-round match on Saturday to hand underdog Damir Dzumhur a shock 2-6, 6-4, 3-0 win. Nadal's withdrawal followed in the wake of a similar move from two-time champion Roger Federer on Friday, with the Swiss postponing his return to tennis two months after a left knee procedure as he withdrew with a stomach virus before his comeback match against Juan Del Potro.
Nadal leaves Miami and now prepares for his favored European clay season which will begin at the Monte Carlo Masters in a fortnight.
