Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza
Bujumbura - Arab Today

Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza thanked loyalist forces Friday for defeating a coup attempt, as he warned protests against him must now end, linking the demonstrators with those who took part in the putsch.

Nkurunziza thanked security forces for their "efficiency" and "speed" in defeating the coup forces, in an official speech in Kirundi released by the presidency, and which is expected to be later broadcast to the nation. He also announced the reopening of all land borders.
