Minister of Environment Khaled Fahmy said Friday that restrictions to using coal as an alternative source of energy will be announced by Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab within a week.
In statements to MENA, Fahmy said that the Ministry of Justice has already studied draft restrictions submitted by the Environment Minister on using coal as an alternative source of energy in cement industry.
The regulations were referred to Mahlab for approval, he said.
The draft stipulates that studies of the environmental impact in all phases of import, trading, transport, storage and use of coal be conducted, he added.
