Arab Today, arab today Yasmin Abdel Aziz: in no hurry to work

Cairo - ArabsToday

Actress Yasmin Abdel Aziz has been offered a choice of numerous scripts and scenario proposals by a number of production companies for a movie to be shown during Eid. The production would take place despite the financial problems currently facing the film industry in Egypt and the fact that she recently gave birth to son, Aladdin. Yasmin did not take any of the offers because she felt that they were suitable only prior to the  January 25th revolution. She believes that things are different now and a contemporary film needs to accurately represent the current situation, albeit without encouraging its continuation. Many recent films have flopped because they fell into the trap of solely focusing on the revolution. The actress is not in any hurry to rush back to work as she is currently caring for her new baby and has remained free of the pressure to commit to work, whether for the “summer” or “Eid” seasons. She will only work when a great, suitable, and different idea is presented to her. Yasmin says that in the past period films produced have all been directly or indirectly representative of the events of the January 25th revolution. This new genre made a debut in one of Aziz’s latest films, The three of them work at it, where the poverty and anger that led up to the revolution were directly represented with her character taking part in the protests, alongside actor Nidal Alshafi. Yasmin has declined many TV drama offers without explicit reason, saying that she won’t be doing that sort of work until further on in her career.
